SATIRE: Defections: NPFL; A Cynical Transfer Season.

Image
Oladeji Olaniyan Although the Nigeria local football league is avowed with the acronym NPFL which means Nigeria professional football league. The level of professionalism accorded to the league is highly questionable and the manner at which it is been operated renders the professionalism attached to it to be unbefitting and incongruous. Asides the Amaranthine brawl between Pinnick, the president of the football governing body and his esurient Giwa. The local league itself is a joker to me but from international perspective its an abject shamble. The activities in the league augur adversely to the mainstream football league in the world. The Nigeria professional football league is not the focal point here for this dissertation but its a mere victim of circumstances and my thoughts. All due apologies to the fanatics of our local football league, my thought is the Marshall here I only heed to his biddings. Our local football league modus operandi is not unconnected from the manner in whic...

OPINION: Could There Be A Productive Nigeria?

Image
Olatunji S. Tolulope Next to the departure of the western capitalists, after several agitations to be self-independent, eventually, Nigeria on the 1st October 1960, got her independence, thinking that we are capable of governing ourselves like other countries of the world, this was a great move, no dubieties, because the capitalist’s exploitation and victimization of the blacks especially Nigerians and their natural resources, were making us strangers on our own lands, which extremely uncalled for since the capitalists were uninvited guests, but we were developed under them but this development is of harm than good . We got to be independent because we are dimly fit to lead ourselves, leading ourselves to bring productive results about the national development of the country unlike the capitalists who were bloodsuckers and moochers even when they claimed that they were doing something great and spectacular on our soil via the warrant chiefs. We were to some extents able to lead ourselv...

Image
Oladeji Olaniyan  In recent times in our dear country; Nigeria, there have been prevalent power tussle and battle for supremacy  and wits between the executive and their counterpart; the Legislative arm avowed as the National Assembly. Many a people, are of the opinion that the National Assembly especially the Senate are becoming the clog in the wheel of progress of the executive because they have not been working  pari passu with the president concocts, hence, the need to properly examine the doctrine of separation of powers in the Nigeria situation.   The doctrine of separation of powers was propounded by baron De Montesquieu which presupposes that; the three arms of government must be separately and independent that is, the executive, legislative and judiciary must exercise their powers independently. Also, a member of an arm of government should not be a member of another arm. If a member of the legislative arm is adjudged himself fit to be a member of the execut...
